This is possibly Walter John Gravenor, born in Janefield, Victoria, in 1868, one of seven children of Robert Raven Gravenor (died 1874) and Julia Pilfoot (died 1914) who were married in Victoria in 1856.

W Gravenor was a bass in the Tasmanian Exhibition Choir in 1891-92. Mr Gravenor was active in the community, singing solos at evening entertainments for the Apollo Club and the Young Men's Christian Association during the time of the Exhibition.

Notice of Walter Gravenor's marriage to Alice Adeline (Cissie) Omant on 25 Jan 1895 in St James' Church, Sydney, appeared in The Mercury newspaper in Hobart.

The couple had three sons: Reginald Jordan, 1896-1969; Donald Walter, 1897-1963; and Gordon Omant, 1906-1970. The family lived in Chatswood, NSW, and in 1930 Walter was described as a linotype operator.

Alice died on 21 Oct 1933 in North Sydney and Walter in 1946 in Manly, NSW.
