Albert Ernest Baird was born in Melbourne on 28 Apr 1870, the youngest of eight children of James Baird (1827-1882), a banker, and his wife Jane Amelia McLean (1829-1909). Albert was the younger brother of William Gunning Baird who is also pictured in the Family Album.

Albert was a bank clerk in Hobart and lived at 11 Hampden Road. He died aged 45 on 4 Oct 1915 in Hobart and was buried at the Cornelian Bay Cemetery.
